Beskrivelse: Mrs. Kalliopi (Georgia Vasileiadou) is the neighborhood laundress, who decides to become a fortune-teller at the urging of a dentistry student, Spyros Tsardis. The latter is running his father’s coffee house because he needs the money. He is also in love with Kaiti, but, given his financial state, he can’t ask her hand from her wealthy parents. The fortune-telling business has been cleverly arranged. Spyros can easily learn family news from the coffee-house conversations of his women customers. He then conveys this information to Mrs. Kalliopi, who “reads” this news in her clients’ coffee cups. Money keeps coming in, until the day that Kaiti’s mother shows up and asks the fortune-teller to tell her exactly what happened with her expensive ring (which her husband has given to his mistress). Now, Mrs. Kalliopi, with this important piece of information, has considerable power over the husband, whom she forces to accept Spyros as his son-in-law and even open a dental clinic for him after his wedding with Kaiti.
